We did a four day tour booked through gateway travel with Manny Timor Tours. Everything was arranged for us but they were very flexible with what we wanted to do- a mix between some beach/ snorkelling time and also some historical information/ museums and markets. They even got up early for us one morning to do a sunrise walk up Cristo Rei at our request.
The highlight of the trip was a day tour to Balibo with lunch at the forte and a walking tour of the local village. The roads there were a bit rough in places but felt very safe in a 4WD with Lito as our experienced local driver.
On an Atauro island day trip a local guide, Erni, came with us to help find snorkelling gear/ lunch/ transport on the island itself.
Could not recommend Manny Tours more highly as a local business who are very knowledgeable about Timorese history and culture, and how to get the most out of your time there.
I just finished an incredible tour to Maubessi that I can’t recommend enough! The landscapes were breathtaking, and the activities were well-planned and enjoyable. One of the best parts was visiting traditional houses and interacting with the locals, who were all so friendly. I even got to try some homemade coffee, which was absolutely delicious!
The transportation was modern and comfortable, making the journey a pleasure. My guide, Serefim, was fantastic! He was not only friendly but also shared fascinating insights about the culture and history of the area. He made sure to stop at all the key highlights and captured some beautiful photos along the way.
As a solo traveler, I felt completely at ease and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the tour. If you’re considering this experience, go for it! You won’t be disappointed!
Alex was awesome and showed us all the cool spots. He shared his personal experience with the war in Timor and was very open and generous. Our flight was delayed and he spent an extra hour showing us the city. Thank you Alex!
The best service tour in Timor Leste
Spent a lovely afternoon with Lito, he was keen to show us around and we packed in a lot. It was a very relaxed yet engaging approach and we appreciated that. Interesting to learn about a new country in this manner.
