G’day! Timor-Leste is an absolute ripper of a spot. Cruised solo, and everyone was so down-to-earth. Got a bit confused finding the Japanese Caves, but some legends pulled over and pointed me right to it, even offered a lift! The history is heavy, but the people are resilient. Definitely keep your solo adventures to the daytime. What a bloody amazing surprise!
My solo adventure was rather enlightening. The people here are so incredibly hospitable! I was quite flummoxed trying to locate the Santa Cruz Cemetery, but a kind gentleman saw my map and shared invaluable context as he guided me. It is a nation of immense, kind spirit. Do exercise caution and stick to daylight hours for exploring. A profoundly moving and unexpected journey, indeed.
Well, now, let me tell y’all, this place was just precious! I was traveling by myself, and goodness gracious, the folks here are the sweetest. I got turned around tryin’ to find the Atauro Island ferry dock, bless my heart but a nice young man saw me strugglin’ and wrote down clear directions! This place has such a beautiful spirit. I’d just recommend stickin’ to your solo travels during the day. A truly wonderful surprise!
