This two-day Dili City & Mt. Ramelau tour is a journey that combines cultural exploration with natural beauty. On Day 1, begin with a Dili orientation tour, visiting landmarks like Tasi Tolu, the Pope John Paul II statue, Motael Church, Santa Cruz cemetery, and the Chega! Prison museum. After lunch, head into the mountains via Aileu and Maubisse, exploring local markets, memorials, and enjoying the scenic Flexia Valley before reaching Hatobuilico at the base of Mt. Ramelau for an overnight stay. Day 2 starts with a pre-dawn hike to Mt. Ramelau’s summit for sunrise, followed by breakfast and a return drive through Liurai and Fatubossa. After lunch, continue with an afternoon tour in Dili, featuring women’s weaving at Alola Esperanca, the Resistance Museum, and a sunset at Cristo Rei and Areia Branca beach, ending the trip by evening.
Begin your journey with a two-hour Dili Orientation Tour (10:30–12:30), exploring key landmarks such as Tasi Tolu (Three Waters), Peace Park, and the Pope John Paul II statue. Visit Motael church and the 1991 Massacre Memorial Statue, then walk through the historic Santa Cruz Cemetery to learn about its past. Gain deeper insight into Timor-Leste’s history at the Chega! Prison Museum (open Mon–Fri) before enjoying lunch at either Ahimatan or Dilicious restaurant. In the afternoon, travel out of Dili along the scenic Comoro River roads into the mountains. Stop at Aileu town to see the 1942 Memorial and local marketplace, then continue to Maubisse to explore its market, Pousada, and charming town center. Take in the refreshing cool air and striking landscapes of the Flexia Valley and hills before driving on to Hatu Builico, a quiet town nestled at the base of Mt. Ramelau. Spend the night surrounded by mountain views at Ovalido Garden

Rise early at 3:00AM for a rewarding climb to the summit of Mt. Ramelau, reaching the peak in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise (approximately 3 hours up and 1.5 hours back, depending on pace and conditions). After descending, enjoy a well-deserved late breakfast before beginning the return journey to Dili, passing through the picturesque mountain villages of Suco Liurai and Fatubossa. Stop for lunch at Projecto Montanha in Aileu before continuing to Dili, where the afternoon offers a two-hour cultural tour. Visit the Alola Esperança Women’s Weaving Workshop and shop to see traditional techniques firsthand, then explore the Resistance Museum (open Tues–Sat) for insight into the nation’s struggle for independence. Conclude the day at Areia Branca beach and the iconic Cristo Rei, where you can relax and take in a stunning sunset before returning to your hotel by 6:00PM.
